Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world had expressed condolences for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
