Barça Set to Play Historic Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday

Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition 30 months after they moved out so building work could begin.

“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators can be present as per the current authorization. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. Barça announced finished work included an updated entryway for the team and new dressing rooms.

Stadium Testing

Barcelona held a public practice at the Camp Nou earlier this month. They mentioned they are seeking authorization from Uefa to host the next European match against Eintracht Frankfurt in December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
