Reigning Sabalenka Secures Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Honors.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive season.
The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles title.
A Year of High Performance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the world number one, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.
This past summer, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Achievements
Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and earned a historic £11m in prize money.
She received almost 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a higher level".
